Weekend Report Part 3

River City Wrestling at Hope of Glory

River City Wrestling returned to the Hope of Glory Church Saturday Night with a full card of matches which entertained the fans in attendance and set up several matches for next week's Breaking All Of The Rules II at Tiffany's Billiards. This was a night of surprises and hard hitting action. Before the action began, Ring Announcer Jeff Houston introduced Masada who promised to deliver a match that could not be confused with the type of "Cartoon Wrestling" seen on television. Next out came RCW Champion Hotstuff Hernandez and RCW Owner Brandon Oliver who stated flatly that "we screwed One Man Mike" at the last show. Fans expressed their disapproval, but Oliver clearly didn't care. It was all about showing who runs the show.

Before the first match, Referee Alex Marrozos came out to the fan cheers. The cheers quickly changed to screams of horror as the music of the Hardbodies played and Andrew Dalton emerged from the back. Next out was Don Juan, accompanied by Mr. Yebisu. There was a dance contest between the two. Its hard to say who won, but it can be said that the contest ended in a wedgie for Dalton. When the actual wrestling began it was for Andrew's RCW TV Title. Dalton seemed inspired to gain revenge for the embarrassment inflicted in the dance contest. Despite the comedy elements of the prematch, both of these wrestlers are skilled competitors and were determined to show their skills for the appreciative crowd. When Dalton used the ropes to finally gain the pin, Don Juan's IPS teammate Fast Eddie came out and let Dalton that he had seen enough. Next week at Breaking All Of The Rules II, the TV Title would be defended in a ladder match between champion Andrew Dalton and Challenger Fast Eddie.

The Second match featured Bling King Quinten Allen facing a person from his past. Bigg Dogg, best known for his work in TWE entered the ring to the approval of the fans. Allen and Bigg Dogg had been partners in the past and had feuded as well. This feud resumed now for the first time in an RCW ring. These men impressed the fans with intensity and passion of their battle. The athleticism of Allen against the size and strength of Bigg Dogg proved to be a strong recipe of a match. In the end it was the Bigg Dogg who took the victory.

Following that match, a couple of changes were announced for the main event at BAOTR II between Necro Butcher and Rude Boy for the JCW title. Champion Rude Boy is being accompanied by Insane Clown Posse's Violent J. Not only that, but now the match is a triple threat match featuring "RCW Hardcore Icon" Hugh Rogue.

Match three saw Chris Marval of the IPS with Mr. Yebisu face the Hawaiian Smashing Machine Ikaika. Ikaika controlled the pace of this match as he continues his efforts to rebuild his wrestling to a more mat-based submission style. Intermixing the mat wrestling and the high impact moves the fans have grown to expect from him, Ikaika impressed those in attendance. Chris Marval surprised many by showing he was able to go with that style as well for much of the match. Eventually however, the larger Ikaika was able to wear down Ikaika and gain the victory.

Before the intermission, Jeff Houston introduced to the crowd San Antonio's own Dusty Wolfe who has been wrestling all over world. Before Dusty could make whatever announcement was on his mind, he was interrupted by an individual from the back. "You're not Orton!" was the chant from the fans as the young man, who bore an incredible resemblance to a certain WWE wrestler, made his way to the ring. As it turned out the fans were wrong. No it wasn't Bob or Randy, but Mark Orton. Mark Orton didn't reveal his reason for being there but since Dusty has been called a San Antonio Wrestling legend... Wolfe didn't take lightly to being interrupted and, in his words "Never piss off a man when he's hung over!" Dusty pounded Orton, but Orton came back and stomped Wolfe down to the mat. Fans loudly booed Orton in support of favorite Wolfe. It will be interesting to see where this goes.

Following the intermission, The Tag Championship was up for grabs. The new attitude Nerdy Boys were set to regain the belts they held for most of the last year. Champion Spector came out alone however as his partner Wally Darkmon had been laid out last show by the Nerds in a surprising turn of events. Spector was ready to defend the belts in a handicap match. Instead Fast Eddie came out from the back to offer his help. Spector may have been better off going at it alone, since Eddie made no effort to conceal his contempt for either Spector or for the Nerds. This was a hard hitting match and emotions were very high. The action got scary as Johnny Ender went head first to the floor outside the ring, getting a concussion for his efforts. Spector also suffered a head injury as well as injurying his knee. Despite this frightening moment, the wrestlers still continued the fight. Tempers continued to rise throughout the match and Spector had to battle not only the determined Nerds but his own partner as Fast Eddie and Spector never meshed as a team. Eventually Fast Eddie walked out in disgust. As he did, his fellow IPS members Don Juan and Chris Marval came out and began beating on the exhausted nerds and Spector, resulting in a no decision. Afterwards the Treats revealed that the Tag Titles were up for grab at BAOTR II in a 3 team Tag Team Scramble.

The next match saw One Man Mike Dell set to face the newest member of the International Power Station. Commissioner Yebisu came to the ring with an unknown oriental wrestler, unknown apparently to Yebisu himself who had to ask the man his name. Takeshi was the wrestler's name. The bell rang and Dell finished the man off in less than one minute. Confused, Dell turned his attention to Yebisu who revealed that the man Dell had beaten is not the newest member of the IPS. The lights went out and the music started playing. When the lights came up The Great Kazushi Miyamoto was in the ring. Kazushi took advantage of the surprised Dell and proceeded to beat on him for several minutes. It looked like Dell wasn't going to get any offense in at all until he was able to duck a clothesline and score a tackle on Kazushi. Unfortunately Dell wasn't only battling Kazushi, but Yebisu and all the other members of the IPS. With one member distracting the Ref, and two others working on Dell, Kazushi was able to regain his composure. When Dell returned to the ring he was hit with the Green Mist, blinding him and setting him up for a devastating move from Kazushi. Marrozos turned back to the action and found Kazushi covering the stunned Dell. The pin was counted and the IPS celebrated the victory of their newest member.

In the main event, Heavyweight Champion Hotstuff Hernandez faced the baddest of the Bad Asses in Masada for the title. But this match wasn't really about a belt. Hotstuff, who is a member of the LAX in TNA was facing Masada in a no disqualification match before Masada returned to the Hard Core Mecca of Big Japan Pro Wrestling. Even without the numerous chairs smashed and thumbtacks strewn throughout the ring, even without the action spilling outside the ring and outside the building, this was a viscous match. These two men were fighting for pride. This wasn't "Cartoon Wrestling" by any stretch of the imagination and the fact that both men survived without serious injury is a tribute to how tough they are. When Hotstuff slammed Masada through 4 chairs covers with thumbtacks and gained the pin the match was over, but the show wasn't.

Hotstuff and Masada shook hands as RCW and its fans sent Masada off to Japan. Brandon Oliver called all the wrestlers of RCW to the ring. Explaining that no one man could beat Hotstuff, the championship match at Breaking All Of The Rules II is now going to be a four-way match. With the help of the fans, the four men chosen to be in the match will be the Champion Hotstuff Hernandez, Ikaika, Kazushi, and Mike Dell.
