End Of Month Notes

June was yet another banner month in San Antonio Independent Wrestling. Texas Wrestling Entertainment presented "When Worlds Collide," which is being hailed as an historic event. River City Wrestling debuted their new television program "RCW Rampage," kicking the show off with a fan party at Tiffany Billiards. Several titles changed hands. Fans of indy wrestling have much to be excited about.

TWE's super show, When Worlds Collide was supposed to feature a matchup between Milano Collection AT and Ring of Honor Champion Bryan Danielson, but when Milano was forced to withdraw due to a necessary surgery on his eye, Rudy Gonzalez pulled off a major coup, bringing in Christopher Daniels to fill the spot.

RCW held a TV title tournament resulting in Hardbody Andrew Dalton winning the new title. On the same card, The Texas Treats, Chris Marval and Don Juan defeated the Nerdy Boys for the RCW Tag Titles. When the RCW Rampage TV Show debuted a few days later, fans were surprised to find that the Treats' Title Reign lasted only an hour or so, with the team of Joey Spector and Wally Darkmon taking advantage of the Treats' brash vow to defend the belts against any team any time any where, "as long as there's a bell and a referee." Spector and Darkmon rounded up a referee and a bell and caught the Treats off guard. Congratulations Joey Spector and Wally Darkmon, RCW Tag Champions, and Andrew Dalton - RCW TV Champion.

In American Championship Wrestling, the team of Rudy Russo and Martin Styles took advantage of Johnny Rage's absence and bested the Texas Renegade in a two on one match for the ACW Tag Championship.

In the coming months, all the promotions in the area are promising to continue the outstanding efforts to provide San Antonio fans ever-improving wrestling shows.

Wrestlers of the Month for June

In the 6 months the San Antonio Independent Wrestling Scene has been naming a wrestler of the month, rarely has the formula used so successfully presented a winner. Hector Navarro and Skitzo, the TWE Tag Champions out distanced all other wrestlers by an incredible margin. Not only did Skitzo and Navarro win what is being considered the best match of the month from San Antonio regulars, they appeared on 2 other shows, successfully defending their titles twice, as well as appearing in singles matches. There can be little doubt that Skitzo and Navarro truly deserve the title of "Wrestlers of the Month." Congratulations!

TWE News and Show Notes

TWE Webpage Update

TWE has updated its web page www.texaswrestlingentertainment.com to include some significant news.

From the page: "Saturday July 22 9am - Bellaire Baptist Church Gym - 116 Clovis - TNA's Talent Relations Director Terry Taylor comes to TWE/TWA for a one day Pro Wrestling Clinic. If you are a Pro Wrestler, and you want to get an edge over the other Independent talent, or you just want to improve your skills, this is the clinic for you. For information, or to register, please call 210.273.4100"

In a related development, a previously announced Gym Wars show has been rescheduled from July 9th to July 22 to coincide with the clinic. This show, which is open to the public will feature wrestlers from all over Texas who have traveled to take part in the clinic. The show and the clinic will take place at the Bellaire Baptist Church Gym at 116 Clovis. The doors will open to the public for the Gym Wars Show only at 7 PM.

Also from the web page in the TWE Newswire: "June 24th-Texas Wrestling Entertainment has been negotiating with TNA to bring in talent for future events, including a huge event labeled STAR WARZ slated for December. More information as it develops." Rudy alluded to this at the When Worlds Collide. Those who missed WWC should be put on notice not to make that mistake twice.

TWE Wet & Wild III

Texas Wrestling Entertainment returned to Splashtown Saturday in the third time this summer. An enthusiastic crowd was entertained by four matches from the TWE team. The event began when Referee Rick Porter came to the ring followed by the wrestlers for Match #1. Windwalker faced one half of the TWE Tag Champions Skitzo. The crowd immediately got behind Skitzo and whenever Windwalker took control of the match, the crowd helped inspire Skitzo to come back, eventually cheering him on to victory.

The second match pitted Cowboy James Claxton against Brett Thunder. The big Cowboy controlled much of the early part of the match until Thunder was able to focus in on Claxton's leg. Thunder inflicted a great deal of pain on Claxton before the Cowboy was able to reverse momentum and drop the big elbow on Thunder assuring the win.

In the third match, Rudy Boy Gonzalez joined in the fun, facing the other half of the TWE Tag Champions, Hector Navarro. The veteran Gonzalez controlled the pace of the action for much of the match, and it took everything Hector had to overcome the crafty Gonzalez, rolling him up in a small package for the win. After the match, Rudy refused to accept the ref's decision, questioning the fans to support his claim that he had gotten his shoulder up in time. Neither the fans nor referee Rick Porter saw things Rudy's way. When Rudy called Ring Guy Rob into the ring, he was surprised to find he couldn't intimidate the young man into supporting his claim. When Rob stood up to Gonzalez, the crowd just about went wild in approval.

The main event featured Bigg Dogg in an unfamiliar role as a fan favorite. His opponent Martin Styles alienated the crowd almost immediately and they showed no mercy in heckling him. Despite this, Styles managed to take control of the larger Bigg Dogg and scored some impressive moves in the match. Bigg Dogg fought back and appeared on the verge of taking the match over when Styles blocked a superplex, sending Bigg Dogg backward into the ring. Then with a frog splash on the stunned opponent, Styles seized the victory. At this point, the crowd almost rioted and Styles was lucky to escape unscathed.

RCW Report

River City Wrestling invaded Tiffany's Billiards once again Friday Night June 23rd with a marathon show lasting over 3 hours and packed with 10 exciting matches. There was a tournament to name a new TV champion, RCW's first Diva search, a couple of newsworthy announcements, a couple of imposter nerds, 2 of the best hardcore specialists in the world, and to top it off, A TITLE CHANGED HANDS!

The show began, as always, with ring announcer Jeff Houston introducing RCW president Brandon Oliver and the traditional count down to the TV taping. This time however, the taping had special meaning as RCW begins its weekly broadcast in less than 7 days, and tonight is set up around the tournament to name a TV Title Champion. Before the tournament could get underway, there was a little business that needed to be conducted, so Hotstuff Hernandez was called to the ring to explain his actions from the last show in which he turned on his partners and attacked Ikaika and the Nerdy Boys. Hernandez restated that he didn't have to explain himself to anyone and that there was really only room for one superstar in RCW. At this point Ikaika came out to confront Hernandez and it didn't take long before the situation exploded, requiring the rest of the lockerroom to keep the two big men separated.

When order was restored, Referee Alex Marrozos was introduced and the tournament began. The first match of the first round pitted Andrew Dalton of the Hardbodies against the laughing man Wally Darkmon. It was hard to decide which wrestler's behavior was more bizarre. In the end, Dalton managed to take the match and advance in the tournament.

Before the second match was announced , the familiar music of the Nerdy Boys began playing and from the curtain emerged.... the Nerdy Treats? Don Juan and Chris Marval had somehow stolen the Nerdy Boys ring gear and proceeded to mimic the Tag Champs in an uncanny performance. But if the Treats were wearing the Nerds' clothes, that meant that somewhere there was a pair of naked nerds! Sure enough, Kronie and Ender arrived wearing only their undergarments and championship belts. It was announced that the two teams would square off later that evening for the titles.

The TV tournament continued with a match between Homeless Hugh Rogue and One Man Mike Dell. Dell's popularity with the crowd continues to grow each show and he was clearly the favorite to take the entire tournament. Hugh Rogue had different plans however and the two squared off in a fierce battle. Dell seemed to be playing into Rogue's plan when he brought a chair into the ring, but it was Hugh who actually used the chair, costing himself the match due to a DQ. Dell had advanced, but would he be able to continue? After the match Rogue issued a challenge to Masada in what he called a match-up between Japanese Hard Core and American Hard Core. When Masada didn't come out, Rogue went looking for him.

For the third match in the tourny, members of the IPS came out. Accompanied by Commissioner Yebisu, Fast Eddie and Spiro announced that they were each ready to face whomever their respective opponents would be. In a move that apparently Eddie didn't see coming, it was announced that his opponent was to be... Spiro. Eddie at this point tried to convince Spiro to lay down and take the loss for the team, but Spiro has too much pride for that so the match was on. Despite his best efforts to convince Spiro to change his mind, Eddie was unable to get a 3 count until Commissioner Yebisu distracted Spiro and Eddie was able to get a roll up for the pin. After the match, the two shook hands but Eddie could help but celebrate the victory behind the back of the unsuspecting Spiro.

The final match of the first round was set between "80's Sensation" Joey Spector and The Smashing Machine. The match was an impressive one as the two exchanged maneuvers, revealing skills which many might not have been aware the two possessed. The mat wrestling exhibition continued until the larger Hawaiian was able to get a wicked submission hold on the young Spector who was forced to tap out. After the match, Joey expressed his respect for Ikaika and the two shook hands.

The next segment was a RCW Diva Search. Jeff Houston arrived with a stunning young lady and announced that the judge for the contest was none other than Ray the Voice. Ray selected several young ladies from the crowd to compete. The final decision was the original young lady who had accompanied Jeff to the ring. After the announcement, Andrew Dalton came back out and chased the ladies off, stating that he was the best looking person in the ring, and for some reason revealed his rather strange taste in personal undergarments.

The Semi-finals were next and Andrew Dalton was already to meet his next opponent. Mike Dell came out. Although clearly still suffering from the beating he took in the first match, Dell put up a tremendous fight and appeared ready to take the win when Dalton took advantage of a distracted referee and threw powder in Dell's eyes. Dalton took the victory and was in the finals.

Fast Eddie Vegas and Ikaika were the match up for the second semi-final and in a match that could easily have been a main event, the two locked up. The match ended when Ikaika further demonstrated his submission wrestling skills, forcing Eddie to tap out. Two matches, both by submission and Ikaika was into the finals to face Andrew Dalton.

Next on the card was a Heavyweight Title match between the challenger, "Bling King" Quinten Allen and champion Hotstuff Hernandez. Allen had called for this match since he had been left out of the tournament, but this was clearly a case of "be careful what you ask for." The Tex-Mex T-Rex Hernandez dominated this match up with Allen only getting in a few moments of offense, mostly on the outside of the ring, against the larger champion. In the end, Hotstuff took the victory in impressive fashion, leaving the Bling King to plan for another day.

The Tag Title Match was next. In the earlier segment, it was obvious that the Texas Treats had studied the Nerdy Boys' pre-match rituals and tendencies. During this match, it became even more clear that the Treats had also studied the Nerds' in match tendencies. After months of failures against the Nerds, the Treats finally had their number and when the smoke cleared, there were new RCW Tag Champions, The Texas Treats.

The Tournament Finals Match was next and although Ikaika would seem to be the overwhelming favorite against the smaller Dalton, the Hardbody had a plan. Andrew goaded Ikaika into accepting a "No Disqualification" Stipulation for the match. By accepting this stipulation, Ikaika had sealed his own fate as Hotstuff Hernandez was waiting in the back. When Ikaika seemed to have the match put away, Hernandez came out, and clobbered the big Hawaiian, slamming him hard to the mat. Hotstuff then dragged the weary Dalton on top of Ikaika, and the ref had no choice but to count 1-2-3. The new RCW TV Champion is Hardbody Andrew Dalton.

After the match, Ikaika laid out the ref and it appeared there would be an impromptu bonus match between Ikaika and Hotstuff but after exchanging a series of chops, Hernandez retreated to the back, never losing his arrogant swagger on the way.

The Main Event was next. Masada, who has been making his name in Japanese Hardcore Matches for the last few years was set to face Homeless Hugh Rogue, who prides himself on being a specialist in the American Hardcore match. This match was not for the faint of heart. A cross of light tubes was set up in the corner and everyone in attendance knew that sooner or later someone was going to crash into it. The two big men battle in and out of the ring, over the railing and into the crowd. By the time they got back into the ring, more than a dozen steel chairs were littered all over the mat. Describing the carnage would be futile. In the end, Masada was the one who went into the corner, exploding the light tubes in an enormous cloud of glass and powder. Despite this, it was Masada who took the victory with a flaming fist to Hugh Rogues face. Understand here, that the term "Flaming Fist" is a literal one and not some colorful name given to a finishing maneuver. Masada's hand was set on fire. All that could be said when this match was over was the chants of approval from the fans.

For those interested in this hardcore style of wrestling, RCW has announced that plans are in the works for a second "Breaking All Of The Rules" event soon. Also announced is that RCW will be holding a viewing party next week at Tiffanys for the Debut of RCW Rampage on UPN2 KCWX. The party will begin at 11PM Thursday Night, and the broadcast will start at 12:30 AM Friday Morning. Come out and be a part of RCW history.

ACW's Fathers Day Fury

American Championship Wrestling presented a card filled with surprises Sunday June 18th at the Venue at 800 Lexington. All three championships were on the line and several wrestlers made either their return or debut with ACW.

The show began ring announcer Jeff Houston and referee Michael Shean in the ring, but before Houston could introduce the first match Lemus II interrupted. Lemus II explained that he would not be fighting El Latino again this week, instead he had brought in a Luchadore from Mexico to fight El Latino who had betrayed his Lucha roots. Lemus II then introduced Mr. Muerte. Next El Latino came out and the fight was on. Jeff Houston was joined by commentator Chris Jordan who assisted in calling the match. The two fighters exchanged moves and countermoves in a rapid fire manner typical of Lucha style wrestling. Lemus II remained ringside and took any opportunity available to assist his man Muerte. Despite the outside interference, El Latino was able to presevere and win the match.

After the match, Showtime Summers stormed the ring, attacking all three men. Mr. Muerte and El Latino were able to get out of the ring but Lemus II took a powerbomb that left him stunned on the mat. Summers then grabbed a microphone and proceeded to berate the Hispanic wrestlers and audience members in a tirade filled with racist epithets. He then challenged any wrestler in the back to come out and shut him up. To his surprise, the wrestler to emerge from the back was none other than Simply Luscious, one of the top female wrestlers in the business today. Summers seemed amused but when Luscious challenged him to prove he was man enough, Showtime disdainfully agreed to the match. The match was relatively even to start with Simply Luscious getting in some offense, but in the end, Summers wore her down and gained the pinfall.

The third match was for the ACW Heavyweight Title. Champion Jacob Ladder came out first and forced Jeff Houston to announce the challenger Dragon X as "weighing in at 103 lbs." Despite his size advantage, Ladder was surprised by the quickness and agility of the masked Dragon X. In an amazing upset, Dragon X actually gained the pin and appeared to be the new champion, but ACW Commissioner Rachel Putski came out and announced that since Dragon X was a Luchadore, the match was being contested under Lucha rules which meant that it was a 2 falls out of 3 match, and that the match was to continue. Jacob took advantage of this to assert his dominance over Dragon X. Ladder easily took the third fall and looked to be on the verge of taking the third fall when Tito Sanchez came out and interrupted the count. Tito suffered for his interference as Ladder slammed Sanchez and turned his attention back to Dragon X. Referee Michael Shean showed discretion, recognizing the importance of this fall, and allowed the action to resume. When Ladder executed the The Purgatory Plunge on Dragon X the pin was unavoidable and Ladder escaped with his belt.

Match # 4 was set to be a tag team match for the ACW Tag Titles. When challenger Rudy Russo introduced his partner for the match Martin Styles it was clear that this was going to be a tough match for the Champions the Ragin' Renegades. When Texas Renegade came out alone with both belts it looked even worse. Without partner Johnny Rage, Renegade was forced to defend the belts in a handicap match. Things got even worse for the Renegade when Showtime Summers came out to do commentary. Summers clearly was supporting Martin Styles in this match and berated the Renegade throughout. This was an action filled match which spilled out onto the floor more than once and Summers insinuated himself into the action whenever possible. Texas Renegade fought valiantly but the double and triple team tactics eventually wore him down. When Russo distracted the referee, Summers knocked Renegade to the mat and Styles landed a frog splash from the top rope and a quick as that, ACW had new Tag Team Champions - Mr. Beautiful Rudy Russo and Martin Styles. After the match, the Texas Renegade challenged Summers to a match next month in which, if Summers loses he must wear a sombrero. Summers accepted with the condition that if Renegade loses, he must get his hair cut. It is believed that this is to be the first "Sombrero vs. Hair match" in ACW history.

Following the intermission, Match # 5 was perhaps the most surprising of the night. Familiar music began playing and out came Don Juan of the Texas Treats. Next out was "80's Sensation" Joey Spector. Before these two could do more than exchange a few opening moves a third man emerged from the back. It was Bio-Hazard. Bio-Hazard stopped the match and began insulting the two fighters in the ring, claiming that he could beat them both. Spector & Don Juan agreed and the match suddenly became a triple threat match. At first, Don Juan and Spector worked together against the massive Bio-Hazard, but eventually it became every man for himself. Proving true to his word, Bio-Hazard took advantage of the situation, pile-driving Spector and executing a painful submission maneuver on Don Juan who was forced to tap out.

The Main Event was next. ACW Texas Heavyweight Champion Darin Childs came out first. He reminded fans that he recently competed in both the King of The Death Match tournament and a bloody tables tag match, and that if he can survive that, he could surely face the challenge of One Man. That being said, "One Man" Mike Dell entered the ring. This rivalry of former partners is proving to be an outstanding feud. Childs has given several incredible matches since returning to San Antonio, and Dell is always in the running for match of the night in any event in which he appears. This match was no exception. Darin Childs' number one fan Rachel was ringside to distract Dell, the referee, the bartender and just about everyone else in the building. for the most part though, the match was relatively clean and evenly fought with Rachel only getting involved when her man was in the most peril. These two fighters knew each other very well and each had counters for the other's favorite moves. When Dell was finally able to hit his finisher it was only fate that sent both to the floor. Dell was able to get back into the ring before the 10 count, but Childs was either unable or unwilling to beat the count. Dell was awarded the match, but as all fans know, the title remains with the champion when a match ends in a count-out. Dell got the victory but Darin and Rachel escaped to the back with the belt. This rivalry is far from over.

Big Wrestling Weekend Report - Part 3

TWE Presents "When Worlds Collide"

Saturday June 11th Texas Wrestling Entertainment presented an Incredible Show for a crowd of nearly 200 fans at the Bellaire Baptist Church Gym. While the phrase "Card subject to change without notice" usually does not bode well, but fans were treated to a surprise appearance by none other than Fallen Angel Christopher Daniels who replaced Milano Collection AT who was unable to attend following minor surgery.

The show began with TWE CEO Rudy Boy Gonzalez coming to the ring carrying a plaque. Rudy explained the concept of the "Match of the Year" and that traditionally, the winner of the Match of the Year Award would return to TWE the following year and face the wrestler voted on by visitors to the TWE website (www.texaswrestlingentertainment.com) And that tonight that meant that American Dragon Bryan Danielson was here to accept his award and face Milano Collection AT. Danielson came to the ring at this time and accepted the award. Also introduced at this time was special ring announcer Stan Callahan of www.indywarzradio.com who in turn introduced the referee for the evening, Rick Porter.

The first match featured two wrestlers who had impressed fans the day before at the Splashtown show; TJ Cannon & Jason Havoc. These two newcomers to San Antonio continued their battle in a match so hard hitting that fans rose to their feet in appreciation at the end when Cannon pinned Havoc.

The show didn't let up with the second match either. Stan Callahan introduced two more fighters who were new to local fans, but will surely be welcome to return. Cervantes the Vampire faced Xtreme Bulldawg Rexx Reed. These two wrestlers kept the action going with some very impressive wrestling. In the end, the larger Rexx Reed gained the victory over the Latin Vampire.

At this point, the news that Milano was unable to attend was announced and refunds were offered to anyone who wished. Not one fan responded. When Danielson came out, he stated he had come to defend the Ring of Honor World Heavyweight Title and that he felt he should defend it. Knowing that there were some excellent wrestlers in the locker room, he challenged anyone from the back to come out. When Fallen Angel Christopher Daniels appeared through the entrance the crowd went wild. The two agreed to face off for the ROH title in the main event later in the evening.

Still stunned by this development, the fans settled in to a women's match between probably the two best female wrestlers in Texas not named Jazz. Vicki and Simply Luscious squared off in an exciting, highly competitive match which was won eventually by Vicki.

Next on the card were two other newcomers to TWE. Nikko faced Brett Anthony who last appeared in San Antonio nearly 10 months ago. These two provided fans with yet another hard hitting match. Despite getting in his share of offense, Brett was eventually worn down by the more aggressive Nikko.

The fifth match was a tag match featuring the team of Bigg Dogg and Mr. Beautiful Rudy Russo against Russo's former partner El Latino and a "Mystery Partner." Russo and Bigg Dogg were clearly surprised when Latino introduced his partner... the CEO Rudy Boy Gonzalez. This rivalry between Latino and both Russo and Bigg Dogg has been going on for most of the year, and it appeared that this time Latino had found a partner who could match up against the rulebreakers and help El Latino gain some measure of revenge. While all for men spent time in the ring, it was Gonzalez who seemed to impress the fans the most. RGB and El Latino gave no quarter in this battle, matching rulebreaking tactics step for step against the team of Russo & Bigg Dogg. Things looked bad for RGB near the end when Bigg Dogg held him and Russo revealed some shears meant to cut Gonzalez's hair, but El Latino made the save and RGB made the pin on Bigg Dogg.

The next match was for the # 1 contender to the TV title. Brett Thunder faced Martin Styles. These two men clearly do not like one another and although Thunder has recently been booed by fans, tonight the fans supported him fully against the cocky Styles. The fan's support was not undeserved as Thunder proved to be the better wrestler on this night.

Following the intermission, Stan Callahan announced the next match was a tables match for the Texas Tag Team Titles. To win this match a team has to put both of their opponents through a table. First out of the back were the challengers The Children of Pain - Jacob Ladder & Darin Childs accompanied by the lovely Rachel Putski. The COP immediately went to work setting up tables around and in the ring. Next out came the champions, Skitzo and Hector Navarro. Two months ago, when these two teams met for the first time to name a champion, it was called a "Match of the Year" candidate. This meeting took the battle to an entirely new level. The challengers, no strangers to violent matches, having recently competed in the King of the Death Match show may not have been prepared to see the young students of the Texas Wrestling Academy raise their own level of violence. Early in the match, Darin Childs put Navarro through the first table. Shortly thereafter a crazed fan had to be removed from the gym after attacking Rachel. It is unclear if this is the same fan who attacked Rachel during an earlier match between these two teams. When Jacob Ladder pulled a steel ladder from under the ring, the match took a turn that shocked and amazed fans. When Skitzo missed Ladder and landed through a table the match appeared over but Referee Rick Porter clarified that in order to win you have to "physically put the man through a table" so the match continued. As the champions recovered from their hard hits, they mounted a comeback. First Skitzo put Childs through a table, then Navarro put Ladder through a table. As the champions celebrated their victory, the bloody Children of Pain gathered themselves, retreating to the back to plan their next run at the titles.

The next match was for the TWE Heavyweight Title. Challenger Jared Steele was the clear fan favorite as the crowd seemed to not remember Champion Mike Foxx's last great match in San Antonio against then AWA World Champion Steve Corino last December. Foxx didn't seem to care what the fans felt or wanted. These two big men battled hard in and out of the ring with each taking the advantage for periods of the match. In the end however Mike Foxx was able to steal the win when he got the three count on Jared Steele while using the ropes for leverage. By the time the referee worked out what had happened, Foxx was long gone.

Finally it was time for the Main Event. In typical ROH fashion the two combatants respectfully shook hands in a show of good sportsmanship. A quick series of holds and reversals was met by applause from the appreciative fans. When one fan yelled out derisively "another hip toss" Christopher Daniels turned to him "Sir that was an arm drag not a hip toss. If you're gonna heckle, at least get it right." That out of the way Daniels and Danielson proceeded to present a clinic of mat wrestling which words cannot adequately describe. Submission holds, moves and counter moves thrilled the crowd for over 30 minutes in what will go down as a classic for San Antonio fans. When American Dragon finally gained the pinfall, the ovation began and did not let up for almost ten minutes as first Danielson and then Daniels thanked the crowd. Rudy Boy Gonzalez was called into the ring and thanked both competitors for taking part in this great event. Rudy explained that it was their presence here this evening that helped to inspire the other wrestlers in the back to raise there own level of performance. Rudy then restated his pledge to the fans to present the "best wrestling in San Antonio"

In all, from top to bottom, this was an incredible show. Rudy Boy Gonzalez should be thanked by every fan or wrestler in attendance tonight for presenting "When Worlds Collide." With the last minute changes and deals Rudy had to pull off, this may have been the most challenging event in his career, but the end results were clearly worth it.

Big Wrestling Weekend Report - Part 2

TWE at Splashtown... Nothing but QUALITY!

Texas Wrestling Entertainment returned to Splashtown Saturday June 10 in what was clearly more than just a tune up for the big "When Worlds Collide Show" Sunday. For five matches the crowd of weekend revelers were enthralled by the action in the ring. Many of those in attendance may have never seen live wrestling before but they learned quickly, recognizing the entertaining action and enthusiastically cheering or booing the wrestlers involved.

The action got started with a match between the man recently called the best wrestler to come out of the Texas Wrestling Academy in years, Brett Thunder and the man who took his place in the Tag Title Match less than two months ago, Hector Navarro. Thunder clearly still feels that the Championship belt around Navarro's waist belongs around his own. The action was great and in the end, Thunder gained some measure of revenge by stealing the victory.

Next saw Windwalker facing off against Navarro's partner Skitzo. While Skitzo seemed to enjoy talking to the young fans around the ring, Windwalker showed an increased focus and pushed Skitzo in a highly competitive match. As Skitzo began mounting a comeback Windwalker was able to stop the momentum and grab the pin. Referee Rick Porter was unable to spot Windwalker's feet on the ropes and counted the 1-2-3 on Skitzo.

The third match featured the San Antonio debut of two impressive wrestlers. TJ Cannon squared off against the much larger Jason Havoc. TJ was able to combat the size differential with a flurry of high speed moves but Havoc was determined to ground Cannon. Cannon absorbed several very hard blows before reversing a pinning combination and getting the win. Rudy Boy Gonzalez instantly christened TJ Cannon as "The New Upset Kid."

The fourth match-up was a battle of big men as Bigg Dogg faced Cowboy James Claxton. These heavy-hitters went blow for blow for much of the match. The more experienced Bigg Dogg seemed to have the match in hand when the Cowboy was able to land the big boot. Bigg Dogg was unable to recover in time to avoid the pin.

For the main event, the Splashtown crowd was treated to a Texas Tag Team Championship Match. The challengers were none other than Brett Thunder and Windwalker who had each scored singles victories over the Tag Champions earlier in the day. Champions Skitzo and Hector Navarro were not going to just lay down and hand over the titles. All four wrestlers were at their best in this match and referee Rick Porter was hard pressed to keep up with all the action, especially the double-team tactics of the challengers. In the end, Porter was forced to count two pins at once as each of the champions had their challenger's shoulders to the mat.

Big Wrestling Weekend Report - Part 1

MAW Show Results & Notes

Friday June 9 Lucha Libre returned to the Sociedad Cruz Blanca, this time under the new banner of Mexican American Wrestling. If a successful show is one in which the crowd has a great time, these shows have been a resounding success. The overall feeling is that of a block party where everyone is invited. The young fans have a great time mimicking the wrestlers in the ring and the adults have a great time taunting the rudos & cheering the technicos.

The first match saw Muneco Nexus face Santana with special referee Virus. Despite Virus' history of rulebreaking, he called the match evenly and fairly. In the end, however, Santana was able to sneak out a victory. The second match, between El Diablo and Aquaman ended quickly following a dive through the ropes by Aquaman onto El Diablo. Neither man was able to make it back into the ring in time to beat the count and Aquaman needed to be helped to the back. The third match was an exciting match-up of technicos Brindis and Ave Fenix. Both wrestlers were able to display exciting moves thrilling the crowd until Ave Fenix was able to grab the submission victory.

The semi-final match was a mixed tag match of sorts pitting the team of Imperious & Yoko Ono against Mr. Muerte and the exotic La Viagra. This was a 2 falls out of 3 match which featured a great deal of comic moments, mostly centered around the effeminate La Viagra. After splitting the first two falls, all the wrestlers got serious and showed what they were capable of. The final fall went to the team of Imerious and Yoko. During the match it was announced that the next show, on June 23rd, would feature a 10 man battle royal for the MAW championship Title.

The main event was clearly the highlight of the evening. The veteran team of Huracan Ramirez Jr. and Estrella Universal squared off against the rudos Santana Express & Lemus II. All four luchadores showed great skill in the ring splitting the first two falls. In the third fall of the match both teams had difficulty with their teamwork with Lemus II & Santana Express showing some frustration at a moment of miscommunication. But it was the Technicos who had the greatest difficulty eventually costing them the final fall and the match. After the match the surprise of the night occurred as Estrella Universal turned on his long time partner Huracan Ramirez Jr. As Santana Express joined in the beating on Ramirez, Lemus II seemed shocked at the actions of Estrella Universal. Eventually, Lemus II could stand no more of this outrage and physically and verbally put Estrella Universal in his place. In Lucha Libre the lines of good vs. evil, fan favorite vs. rule breaker, technico vs. rudo are clearly defined and Estrella Universal had violated this code. As a result, Lemus II was suddenly greeted by the cheers of the fans setting up a match for the next show of Huracan and new technico Lemus II against Santana Express and new rudo Estrella Universal. The June 23rd show is shaping up to be a monumental one.

Texas Wrestling Entertainment News & Notes

Press Release

Rudy Boy Gonzalez issued the following press release today:

Texas Wrestling Entertainment returns to action for a double header weekend Saturday June 10 and Sunday June 11th.
First in conjunction with Nickelodeon and Splashtown waterpark in San Antonio, TWE goes head to head with Nacho Libre. Splashtown is located at 3600 IH 35 North for more information please call 210.227.1400.

Then the count down is on as TWE presents 'When Worlds Collide' Sunday June 11th at 7pm. The Main Event features two of the top indy stars today from around the wrestling world as Ring of Honor World Champion Bryan Danielson defends his title against the young superstar from Japan, Milano Collection AT. This is a $50 ringside ticket anywhere on the East coast, and has been looked at as one of the 'Dream Matches' on the Independent circuit.

Danielson, trained at the Shawn Michaels Wrestling Academy under the direction of TWE CEO Rudy Boy Gonzalez, Milano Collection was trained by none other than Japanese superstar Ultimo Dragon in the world reknown Toryumon Gym which was based in Tokyo Japan and then later Mexico City. MCAT is now training at the Texas Wrestling Academy under Gonzalez direction and has been making appearances all over the United States including Chikara, NWA-Anarchy, Ring of Honor, Pro Wrestling Elite to name a few, and has caught the attention of WWE talent scout Al Snow as well as TNA talent scout Terry Taylor. Danielson is no stranger to the WWE offices as he was under a WWE Developmental Contract 6 months into his career. Danielson has traveled the world several times over in his short 6 year career, and is known as one of the most respected athletes to step into the squared circle. QUALITY wrestling??????....it just doesn't get ANY better than this.

Also, known as students, the team of Skitzo and Hector Navarro will need to grow up real fast as the veteran team of Darin Childs and Jacob Ladder will be challenging the youngsters for the TWE Texas Tag Team Titles. This will not be a regular conventional tag team title match. This will be a Tables match. Winners will be declared by having both members of the opposite team dumped through the tables. Both members must be dropped through the tables. Winners get the belts.

Texas Champion Mike Foxx will defend his title against Jared Steel. Foxx defeated former Champion Kazushi late in 2005 and was granted a World title match against AWA World Champion Steve Corino. Corino came out on the winners end, but Foxx came out more determined than ever. They say styles make matches. In 2006 Steel has challenged TWE TV Champion Milano Collection AT 3 times and has lost close matches each time. But in the last several years Steel has gone head to head with Foxx in other areas of Texas for other promotions and has had more success. Steel may have Foxx's number.

Another superstar from the Orient is Sumi Sakai. She meets South Texas Superstar Vicki. Sumi is no stranger to the American audience as she has wrestled for every major promotion on the East Coast including Ring of Honor. Vicki has only been in the pro ranks a couple of years, but has some circles talking. One of the down points of her career was a broken collar bone at the hands of Heather Divine. Vicki came back more determined than ever, vowing vengeance and causing Divine to disappear.

Brett Thunder, who was scheduled to face The Upset Kidd, Spector, in a #1 Contenders Match, to Milano's TV title, is now with out an opponent, as Spector has departed from the highly competitive TWE, and has gone to a more friendlier promotion. Thunder has stated he will face anyone, from anywhere, to prove to the fans that he is the #1 contender to the TWE TV title.

Also, Latino has an open contract to face Biggs Dogg or Rudy Russo. Latino has signed on to the TWE/SPLASHTOWN Wet and Wild II the day before, and will face either Dogg or Russo and then the following day will face the other.

Also, just signed..........Houston native Brett Anthony has been signed to face Nikko, also from Houston. Both individuals are looking at being a part of the WWE try outs in July. Who will be invited. This match will hopefully be used as a stepping stone to that goal.

But first............. a special Match Of The Year Award will be presented to Bryan Danielson for the match up he took part in 2005 vs Great Kazushi in what was entitle, IMPACT. This was a fast paced one on one in which both athletes brought their 'A' game and the fans were treated to 20 non-stop minutes of great action.

$5 pre-sale tickets are on sale right now at the Texas Wrestling Academy, 4306 Naco Pass, or at Get it up Productions 3813 Pleasanton Rd and $8 at the door on the day of the event.

Special thanks to House of Pain Iron Wear, Red Bull Energy Drink, All American Trophys, Get It Up Productions, DJ Rage, Splashtown Waterpark and http://www.saindywrestlingscene.blogspot.com/

- Thank you Rudy. As always to get the best TWE information refer to www.texaswrestlingentertainment.com

Terry Taylor Clinic Information

Posted on the newsboard at the TWE webpage:

TERRY TAYLOR NAMED NEW DIRECTOR OF TNA TALENT RELATIONS
By: Press Release
6/5/2006 10:40:51 AM
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Terry Taylor has been named Director of Talent Relations for TNA Wrestling, it was announced today. Taylor has been living in Atlanta for the past 14 years. He previously worked for WCW and WWE/WWF, and was a wrestler for 17 years before officially retiring earlier this year. "I believe in TNA," Taylor said. "This company is doing big things and I am excited to be part of the team and contributing to the growth, as well as the future of the business as a whole." As Director of Talent Relations, Taylor is responsible for all matters related to TNA's on-air talent, including contract negotiations, management and expanding the company's roster. He will be working out of the Nashville office. "We are excited to have Terry in this important job," said Dixie Carter, president of TNA Wrestling. "We pride ourselves on our roster and want the very best for them. Terry is the perfect fit for relating to and aiding our talent."

This is huge news for anyone even 'thinking' about attending the Terry Taylor Clinic next month.

That last line is courtesy of RBG. At the risk of expressing any opinion that is in any way negative the San Antonio Independent Wrestling Scene would like to add, that any wrestler who is serious about advancing in this business would be a fool to let his own stubbornness stand in the way of attending a clinic of thimagnitudede.

RCW Wrestlers Play Major Role in XCW's Playaz Ball

Texas Treats Win XCW Tag Titles
Hotstuff Hernandez in Main Event

Saturday night in Denton Texas, XCW presented a VOD/PPV show called Lance Romance's Playaz Ball. RCW based wrestlers played major parts in the success of that show.

The Texas Treats won a triple threat ladder match for the vacant XCW Tag Titles. Don Juan and Chris Marval now have North Texas Gold around their waists. Can South Texas Titles be far behind?

In the Main Event, Hotstuff Hernandez was a surprise replacement for Jacob Ladder who had backed out of his Cage match Title match against Champion Jared Steele. Hotstuff impressed as always and clearly had the advantage over the talented Jared Steele when the referee stopped his pin count on Steele and revealed his allegiances to the Playaz Club.

The Quality of the show and all the Matches as well as the Fan Involvement were first rate. Any San Antonio fans who find themselves in the DFW area in the future should consider attending an XCW event. Check out www.xcwonline.net for details concerning XCW and upcoming shows.

The San Antonio Independent Wrestling Scene apologizes if this post has caused any difficulties. Readers should always check the RCW webpage to get the most detailed information. www.rivercitywrestling.net When any date is officially announced that date will be added to the Calendar of Upcoming Events.
