2010 SA Indy Wrestling Scene End of Year Awards
For the last 5 years I have run the San Antonio Independent Wrestling Scene Blog, expanding over that time to report on promotions and wrestlers in shows held in the 210, 512 & 830 area codes.
The advantage of that expansion meant more shows and more wrestlers receiving attention. The disadvantage meant I was less able to attend all the shows and was forced to rely on reports from fans, wrestlers & promoters.
Sometimes shows weren’t reported at all as I was unable on not allowed to attend shows and no reports were sent. It therefore makes it less reasonable for me to arbitrarily give out end of year awards based only on my reports. I still like the idea of year end awards, but I think it is time to “shake things up” a bit.
Last year I named 14 award winners, including the Wrestler of the Year which was voted on by the readers of this blog. Most of the other awards were merely my opinions and were presented as such. The Busiest Wrestler award was based on who had worked the most shows in the area and was not subjective to opinion.
This year I want to open more of the awards to the readers. The Busiest Wrestler Award and the Wrestler of the Year Award will not change, but the others are about to change dramatically.
Starting today I am taking nominations for the 12 award categories. You can send me nominations at firstname.lastname@example.org or message me privately on Myspace, Facebook or any other contact you have with me. I will select what I believe to be the best 8 choices in each category and then create a poll which will be open to all voters. The nomination period will run from today until the end of the month. The Polls will then be posted for 2 weeks after which time winners will be announced.
The Busiest Wrestler of 2010 Award will be announced on January 1st.
Also on January 1st, I will begin accepting votes for your choices for the best wrestlers of the year 2010. This will run the same as previous years and the winner will be announced on January 15.
