MAW Show Friday Night

Mexican American Wrestling held its final show of the season Friday night in front of the largest crowd to attend a Lucha Libre show in San Antonio in memory. The free show featured not only five matches, but a trophy ceremony for Local Luchadores. The referee duties were split between Mano Negra and Juan Diego.

The first match featured el Vikingo and el Diablo. These two vetrans were evenly matched with each showing their offense, but neither gaining the advantage. Both wrestlers took the match out of the ring. The match was ruled a draw when neither could beat the twenty count to get back into the ring.

The second match went much the same way, as Muneco Nexxus and Gato Diabolico squared off. The two exchanged offense until spilling out of the ring. When neither man beat the twenty count, the match was declared a draw.

In the third match, two vetrans with a combined 50 plus years of experience squared off. El Horoscopo faced El Zombi and these two men showed their skills and experience in such a way that younger wrestlers would do well to study. Several pin attempts were made by each as well as several submission moves. It was by submission that el Zombi eventually gained the victory.

The next match was a tag mat between the technico team of MAW Champion Ave Fenix and Tommy Gunn and the rudo team of Lemus II and Mini-Diablo. The Technicos dominated much of the early match until the Rudos were able to reverse the momentum thanks to some double-team tactics and the distraction of Referee Juan Diego. The Rudos nearly managed to remove the mask of Ave Fenix. Fenix actually used this against the rudos later when Juan Diego was distracted. Fenix removed his own mask and threw it to Lemus. Covering his face with a shirt, Fenix rolled on the mat as the Referee turned back to the action to discover Lemus with the incriminating evidence. Juan Diego had no choice but to disqualify the rudos and award the match to the technicos.

Next, several trophies were awarded to the luchadores in attendence. Receiving trophies were Mini-Diablo, Mano Negra, el Ilegal, el Vikingo, Ave Fenix, el Zombi, Gato Diabolico, Juan Diego, el Horoscopo, el Diablo, Lemus II, Chief Battu, Tommy Gunn and Muneco Nexxus.

The main event was a special trios match featuring some of the best luchadores from throughout Texas and Mexico. The Technico team was made up of Universitario, Spider Man and Sicodelico Jr. The Rudo team was made up of el Tecato, Crazzy USA and el Maniaco. This was a high energy and exciting match that went 3 falls to a finish. All six men showed themselves deserving to be in the main event in the biggest Lucha show in San Antonio this year. The first fall went to the Technicos when el Tecato submitted to a double team move. In the second fall, the rudos evened it up with a simultaneous triple submission. The final fall was hectic and even confusing as the luchadores fought in and out of the ring. The end came when Referee Juan Diego had his back to the ring, attempting to controll the action outside the ring. Maniaco covered Sicodelico, but when Juan Diego wasn't in possition to count the pin, Maniaco went to get his attention. This gave Sicodelico the opportunity to grab a ringside chair. When he went to hit Maniaco with the chair, Maniaco ducked, causing Sicodelico to hit Juan Diego instead. Thinking quickly, Sicodelico threw the chair to Maniaco and fell to the mat, feigning an injury. Diego turned and discovered the appearantly guilty Maniaco. Juan Diego called for the bell, disqualifying the rudos and awarding the fall and the match to the technicos.
