FPW has a good thing going and hopefully San Angelo is ready to move past the era of being plagued by an inferior product.

The Top Wrestlers in San Antonio

As with last year, the San Antonio Independent Wrestling Scene will present end-of year recognition for the Promotions, Wrestlers and other Workers who entertained the fans in San Antonio during the year 2008. In late December, fans will be encouraged to vote for their favorite wrestlers. Any wrestler appearing on any independent show in Bexar County will be eligible for the title of “San Antonio’s Top Wrestler.” To assist in voting, the Scene will recognize all wrestlers confirmed to have worked on 10 or more shows in Bexar County.

The list for 2008 is shaping up to be quite different than last year as Anarchy Championship Wrestling, which presented over 30 shows in San Antonio in 2007 has cut back their shows and is splitting time in Austin, will only run 7 San Antonio shows during 2008. River City Wrestling also will run significantly fewer shows in 2008 than they did in 2007. With SCW running mostly outside Bexar County (The Adkins shows are the only in-county shows) and TWE continuing to run shows both in and out of the county, many wrestlers who might be considered to be among the best working in Texas have found themselves working fewer shows in Bexar County without actually cutting back on their overall workload.

The shows which run in San Antonio more often, i.e. TWA, MAW, PWI, IPW, W4CW and TnT tend to use talent who live and work primarily in the South Texas area. This is not to imply anything about the level of talent of these workers, merely to point out that fewer North Texas and out-of-state wrestlers are likely to earn recognition for having worked 10 or more shows in Bexar County during 2008.

That being said, so far, through the end of September, the San Antonio Independent Wrestling Scene has been able to confirm the following wrestlers as having worked 10 or more shows during 2008. I have missed several shows and have not always been able to get results from every show, so if you believe any wrestler not listed has worked the requisite number of shows, please contact me (bayou_926@hotmail.com) with the information. The list is in alphabetical order. Thank you all for everything you have done to entertain San Antonio wrestling fans.

A few Notes: Vince Vile may have lost the match but I believe Mad Dog lost the war. After the match, Vile was able to jump Mad Dog from behind and deliver a pretty good beat-down. Vince was also calling out to Johnny Rage in an attempt to show his friend that he can get violent. Johnny Rage was not in the building.

Rudy Boy Gonzalez may be a veteran in the ring but he is also mowing through SCW creating havoc along the way. Galan put a great effort in but the powerhouse RGB was just too much.

Most of us have seen both Ronnnie the Red and Brett Thunder for a few years now, mostly at TWE where these two have show cased their talents week-in and week-out. We were extremely lucky to have both of these guys a part of SCW this past year. Brett and Ronnie are both moving to the Florida area. They have great opportunities there and I know they will both flourish. We at SCW would like to thank both of these guys for being a big part of SCW and for what they both mean to professional wrestling in South Texas. Hopefully, they will remember the way back to Texas from time to time. Good luck guys. We know you will do well.

The Mike Dell and Rory Fox match was really a classic. Of course Rory believes that Mike should stop trying to go after his Open Division Title and join him once again to go after the tag team titles. Dell would have nothing to do with it much to the crowds approval. This match went back and forth and there was a double roll-up and each man's shoulders were on the mat. However Rory did get his shoulder up right before the 3-count. Rory, Mike and every fan in there thought that Dell was the champion, all except one person; The Ref. As he said the shoulder of Rory Fox did come up before the count of three and Dell's did not.

In the tag team match, Claxton was thrown into the steel post which left Dusty in a 2 on 1 situation. This was a different kind of Double Trouble. They became just vicious and relentlessly attacked Dusty as the ref had no choice to call for the bell, but the beating continued. Claxton did regain his bearings and cleared the ring with a chair. We have all seen Double Trouble, who have had held tag belts all over the country and they were SCW Tag Team Champions as well. It just seems as though they really did not care about winning the belts but more about just roughing Dusty and Claxton up. This could get interesting.

The SCW Heavyweight Title match between "Superstar" Dick Dallas and Jacob Ladder was a match in which there were chairs and tables which Dallas seemed to take all of the shots. Ladder again was working on the knee of Dallas trying to ground the 290 Pound Dallas. Rudy Boy again came out to the ring and distracted the referee as Ladder caught Dallas with a chair shot and covered him, but Dallas was able to kick out at a 2 count. Again Rudy distracts the ref once he see Dallas gaining some steam. As Ladder came running towards to corner that Dallas was in with the chair in ready to deliver another blow, Dallas dove from the 2nd rope with a spear that caused the Beeville fans to erupt. Rudy did grab the leg of Ladder, brought him to the floor and to the locker room. Dallas pleaded with the ref not to count him out but the ref had no choice and counted out the champion. Dallas was incensed and grabbed the mic calling for The Commissioner of SCW, Dusty Wolfe to the ring. Dallas demanded that he wanted a match with Ladder and since Ladder "likes chairs so much," as Dallas put it, Dallas' request was for a No-DQ match: No Count- outs, Anything Legal, Tables, Ladders, Chairs, Taped Fist, Anything. Dallas will get his wish as Dusty Wolfe granted request.

Our next show is in Castroville on 10-11-08. From the way things are building at SCW, you do not want to miss it. If you are planning to come to this show or our 1 year anniversary show in Castroville on Nov. 22nd, I would recommend that you order your tickets now. As most know The Garage Sports Bar is a smaller venue which will sell out. See you guys in a few weeks!

SCW Carrizo Springs Show Results

Southern Championship Wrestling
Carrizo Springs Royal Palace Ballroom
Saturday August 30, 2008

(Notes and results from SCW Co-Owner Don Holding)

Prior to the show, we received a call from the SCW Heavyweight Champion Spiro that he was involved in a accident and we know that he did injure his knee, to what extent, we do not know. We will find out Tuesday or Wednesday and release that information at our website (www.prowrestlingscw.com) SCW rules are that if the Champion is scheduled to appear for a title defense and does not make it, regardless of reason, it is considered a forfeit and must relinquish the title. We also received a call that Massive, who was scheduled to compete for heavy weight title but was also injured in a match in El Paso.

The General Manager of SCW Dusty Wolfe decided that he would allow everyone on the card a opportunity to compete for the belt. The winner of each match would qualify to be in a Battle Royal with the winner being the new SCW Heavyweight Champion.

Match # 1 - Tony Vega(win & advance) vs. "Mad Dog" Ken Johnson
Match # 2 - Chris James vs. "Cowboy" James Claxton (win & advance)
Match # 3 - Dusty Wolfe vs. Ronnie the Red (win & advance)
Match # 4 - "Superstar" Dick Dallas (win & advance) vs. Rudy Boy Gonzalez
Match # 5 - Brett Thunder vs. Jacob Ladder (win & advance)
Match # 6 - SCW Open Division Title Match
Challenger "One Man" Mike Dell vs. Champion "The Real Deal" Rory Fox (double count out - Rory Fox retains the title)

Dusty Wolfe came to the ring with the SCW Heavyweight Belt. He announced that since the Dell/Fox Match ended in a double DQ, he would allow both to compete in the Battle Royal.

Match # 7 - Main Event - Battle Royal for SCW Heavyweight Title
The order elimination: Rory Fox, Mike Dell, Ronnie the Red, "Cowboy" James Claxton, Tony Vega, "Superstar" Dick Dallas & Jacob Ladder (win and new SCW Heavyweight Champion)

A final Note: As most know, Jacob Ladder is part-owner of ACW. As of this date, SCW has no dates scheduled with Mr. Ladder and he now controls the SCW Heavyweight belt. This will be a developing story and we will give more details this week at our the website. Our next show is 9-6-08 in Pearsall Texas at The A&D Ballroom. There will be a lot going on this week for sure.

(San Antonio Independent Wrestling Scene comments: We wish both Massive and Spiro speedy recoveries. In his time as an SCW champion, Spiro has elevated and been elevated by the title. He has proven himself to be a man who can lead a wrestling company and be a force inside the ring and inside the lockerroom. We look forward to his return)

notes: While Jaykus Pliskin was being interviewed, Mr. B interrupted. Mr. B talked about wanting an opportunity to wrestle for the TNT title. Jaykus was not going for it which prompted Mr. B to attack Jaykus. As Jaykus came to, he called for the bell giving Mr. B his opportunity. However size overcame heart, as Jaykus made quick work of Mr. B. After the match, Johnny Rage challenged Jaykus to a match. Saying that that he would be a better match up. Jaykus accepted.

notes: After the match Doom further antagonized Tito Sanchez into giving him a match.

(results & notes courtesy of SCW co-owner Haz)

Match # 1 - Vince Vile vs. "Mad Dog" Ken Johnson (win)
Match # 2 - Rexx Reed (win) vs. Rudy Boy Gonzalez
Match # 3 - "One Man" Mike Dell (win) vs. JT Lamotta
Match # 4 - SCW Tag Team Title Match
Brett Thunder & "Cowboy" James Claxton (win and new tag team champions) vs. Chris James and Johnny Rage.
notes: At the start of the show, General Mananger Dusty Wolfe brought Brett Thunder to the ring and explained that his former partner was no longer a part of SCW. The GM was set to allow Brett to select a new partner but Chris James of Double Trouble made his entrance and demanded that Double Trouble be named new tag team champions since both members are active on the SCW roster. A meeting was held in the back and it was determined that Chris James and Brett Thunder were each issued a belt. They could each pick a partner (Tony Vega is out of the state on tour.) Chris James picked Johnny Rage and Brett Thunder picked his long time friend James Claxton. Job well done in a hard fought battle by Claxton and Thunder. Match # 5 - SCW Open Division Title Match
Challenger "Superstar" Dick Dallas (win by DQ - no title change) vs. Champion "The Real Deal" Rory Fox.
notes: The match ended after Dick Dallas caught Rory Fox with a spear. As Dallas was going in for the pin, Rudy Boy Gonzalez jumped Dallas which resulted in a vicious chair shot across the head knocking Dallas out. Rudy then pulled out a dress and put it on Dallas. Dallas came to shortly after and needless to say the big man was a little angry. The official ruling of the match was Dick Dallas win on DQ but under SCW rules, a title cannot change hands on a DQ.
Match # 6 - SCW Heavy Weight Title Match
Challenger Massive vs. Champion Spiro (win & retain title)
notes: This match really ended with some bad blood. A lot of anger was unleashed by Massive when he attacked Spiro from behind. After the show, Spiro went to Dusty Wolfe and demanded that he wanted Massive again. Spiro gets his wish at SCW's next show on August 30th in Carrizo Springs Texas. Massive/Spiro 2! It is a 7:30 bell time. This is what we know so far:
Super Star Dick Dallas vs. Rudy Boy Gonzalez
Mike Dell vs. Rory Fox for the SCW Open Division Title
James Claxton & Brett Thunder defend the tag team titles against Double Trouble
Spiro defends his Heavy Weight Belt against Massive in what should be a classic.

You can also catch Vince Vile, Johnny Rage, "Mad dog" Ken Johnson, Dusty Wolfe and more. SCW - Carrizo Springs Texas - August 30th. See ya there!
